Rare 1890-1900s Two Piece Silk Wedding Ensemble Gown Jacket
One of the best antique gowns that has ever passed through my hands. Incredible museum worthy wedding gown ensemble circa late 1890- early 1900s that consists of an unusual combination of a gown and bodice/jacket instead of the usual bodice and skirt. The gown itself is made up of a chemise style bodice made of pale pink crepe chiffon with inset lace attache to a trained skirt made of heavenly eggshell fine silk overlay a pink acetate taffeta lining. Skirt hem is trimmed in accordion pleating that cascades down the side seam of skirt and continues along the center back of skirt down to the hem. Incredibel hook and clasps hidden down the waist to hip level and mother of pearl button closures on bodice with silk ribbon woven throughout neckline. Included in this purchase is the bodice/jacket worn with the dress over top, and sold in as-is condition. Best worn lightly for some photos and or display/ repair
Condition: Gown is in stunning shape for age and for the fabrics used. Small pin holes to skirt as well as some very faint discoloration that is hidden by the drape of center back skirt. Minor discoloration to inside lining hem that is now seen when worn. Bodice has some tearing to underarms, mark on back, and fabric deterioration to the silk organza used around shoulder area. Overall strong and a stunning piece for any collector or bride to be
