Antique Late 1800s Handmade Quilted Coat
A personal piece I made for myself out of a late 1800s 8 pointed star quilt that had seen better days and unfortunately has some weak areas and holes throughout, so I felt OK to give this quilt some new life. This quilt is a winter weight, with cotton batting, and a homespun brown gingham reverse side. Features some gorgeous turkey red prints, along with calico and homspun fabric. Drafted from a pattern I made out of one of my favorite coats, it fits oversized regardless of body size, with dropped shoulders and open front. This piece is a piece to keep forever and holds centuries worth of stories and sentiments along with it.
Condition: good: the best part of this quilt were used, there are some spots inside facing, and a few areas of fabric wear as shown. Raw, original hems, overall strong and ready to wear
