Remarkable gown dating from the late 1910s to the early 1920s, heavily inspired by designers like Maria Monaci Gallenga, Emilie Floge and Paul Poiret ;embracing the designs and silhouettes of the Dress Reform Movement. A column style gown with an ode to a “hobble skirt,” made of a printed jet black and cream geometric silk velvet with a dove grey satin blend lining with jet black silk and silk crepe at the hem lining. Unique in shape and style for the time, this gown has ethereal and voluminous kimono-style sleeves, a deep plunging neckline with the option for a snap closure to soften to plugging neckline, and my favorite detail being the slight train and weighted hem that can be adjusted by bringing the back hem corners and snapping to the front side seam hem. An unlabeled rarity with details and attributes that closely resemble some of the great couture designers of the time

Condition: Great for age; maybe 3 pen head size spots remain after washing as shown, minor discolored spots inside lower hem lining that does not affect or detract. I had to pattern and hand sewn the silk hem lining to repair some tearing that was happening to the original; (same color fabric and type was used.) Overall presents like new and has another century or more of life left
